About

Dzanc Books was founded in 2006 to advance great writing and champion those writers who don't fit neatly into the marketing niches of for-profit presses. As a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization, Dzanc Books not only publishes excellent books of literary fiction, but works in partnership with literary journals to advance their readership at every level. Dzanc is also fully committed to developing educational programs in the schools and has begun organizing many such workshops and Writers In Residency programs. The authors already signed by Dzanc are extraordinary, award winning talents, including Roy Kesey, Yannick Murphy, Peter Markus, Laura van den Berg, Dawn Raffel, and Jeff Parker. All Dzanc authors not only receive contracts and monetary compensation commensurate with the best literary houses, but the personal attention shown to each author by Dzanc - including reviews, book tours and intimate involvement in every step of the publishing process - clearly makes Dzanc unique.

Issue Twenty-Six

Issue Twenty-Six of The Collagist is live!

In Issue Twenty-Six, we have one of our most varied fiction sections yet: We have two new fairy tales by Caren Beilin, a fiction debut by Michael Rudin, and Manuela Draeger's "In the Time of the Blue Ball," translated by Brian Evenson (and also published this month in the collection of the same name by Dorothy, a publishing project). Jonathan Callahan’s three-part novella "ボブ (Bob)," serialized across issues 24-26, finishes this month with Part Three, and we also have novel excerpts from The Taste of Salt by Martha Southgate, Touch and Go by Thad Nodine, Glass by Sam Savage, and Hooked by John Franc.

This month's poetry includes new work by Neil Aitken, Sara Henning, Sara Tracey, and Chloe Martinez.

Our non-fiction this month includes an essay by Éireann Lorsung, as well as book reviews of This is Not Your City by Caitlin Horrocks (reviewed by Deirdra McAfee), The Microscripts by Robert Walser (reviewed by Josh Billings), The American Girl and The Glitter Scene by Monika Fagerholm (reviewed by Darby M. Dixon III), The Mimic's Own Voice by Tom Williams (reviewed by Brian Allen Carr), and Look! Look! Feathers by Mike Young (reviewed by Barry Graham).

As always, thanks for reading! Enjoy!
