Connecting with Your Reader: Craft and Platform.

In this workshop, we’ll look at two distinctive elements of writing well: First, the craft elements of how to make a strong connection with your reader and create fiction and non-fiction that’ll generate a series of images, not just words on the page. Second, we’ll look at the current publishing landscape and how you can use the web to bring your writing to eager readers, thereby generating an audience even before your work sees print. Seth Harwood’s first novel, Jack Wakes Up, was published by Three Rivers Press (Random House) in May 2009. He teaches creative writing and literature at Stanford and the City College of San Francisco, as well as lectures widely on new media and author platforms.
