PROJECTS WITH LITERARY JOURNALS
Dzanc Books believes literary journals constitute an invaluable
venue for authors to gain exposure for their work. With this in
mind, Dzanc plans to provide financial and networking aid in order
to assist literary journals in their subscriptions, distribution,
promotion, fundraising and overall exposure to the reading and
writing communities. Dzanc has no interest in controlling any
of the editorial decisions of these literary journals. We only
want to help them succeed in achieving their missions, and hopefully
relieve some of the stresses that go with doing so. All of our
services to literary journals will be 100% free and provided as
part of an ongoing commitment to bring greater exposure of great
writing to the public.
Dzanc Books is in constant contact with hundreds of literary journals,
surveying their areas of success, needs, and wish lists in order
to determine areas to focus on. We have also developed relationships
with booksellers and directors of reading series nationwide. Dzanc
plans on developing coordinated mailings in order to develop larger
subscription bases for participating journals. In 2006, an idea
developed by the Executive Director of Dzanc Books generated well
over 100 combined years of subscriptions for 21 journals. We know
that was only the beginning.

PROJECT 2 - LIBRARY SUBSCRIPTIONS
In an attempt to develop a larger subscriber base, in August 2007, Dzanc sent a package of information about the importance of subscribing to literary journals to 50 libraries as a test case. Splash pages for 16 journals were included in the package, which went to a mix of both public and university libraries. If this test case is successful, Dzanc has addresses for over 1000 libraries within the United States to continue this project with.
There was no cost to the literary journals involved.
