For nearly twenty years, Dzanc Books has published innovative, award-winning fiction and nonfiction that pushes boundaries, surprises readers, and encourages deep connection. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and the 2023 AWP Small Press Publisher of the Year, we’re committed to creating space for literature that reflects the complexity of the world and advances our mission to build community through the arts.
It’s a hard river to ride, especially now, at a time when pervasive cynicism and destructive political forces are pushing the idea that books––poetry, fiction, nonfiction––and the arts are irrelevant and unnecessary.
